It’s in the diary

Thursday 22nd April was in the diary for the launch of our latest feature packed WordPress theme. We’ve managed to stick to that release date and we can finally introduce you to our latest beauty entitled “Diarise“.

As the name suggests this theme is based around the calendar functionality of the Wordpress system. But taking it to a whole other level.

With Diarise you can showcase events and navigate around them with a neat home page JS date picker. That means you could use this theme for your church, school, sports club, or event organising company! To name but a few.

Navigate through the events module, by upcoming events or by upcoming months.

You’ll see in the screenshot above that you can then add that event to your Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook or Apple iCal straight from the website.

Event posts are housed in a category that you set in the theme options, then you can set the event details in the custom settings panel that will become available to you under the WYSIWYG post editor. The theme also comes with a simple booking form that you can express interest for an event with that emails the web master their contact details. You can also link events to specific booking pages on internal or external sites.

Highlights of previous posts, or just notable other company news can be presented on the home page in an animated post tabber. You could showcase videos, images or text content in these posts.

The featured module is tag based so can display posts from any category and include video, images, or text content.

The home page is completely modular so it is hugely flexible, you could use the theme as a simple business theme with a blog section and widgetized sidebar and footer spaces, or go the whole bang shoot and use all the custom functionality.

Loads of functionality packed into 4 home page modules. The background color and a background image can be added via the theme options.

As always, the demo does the theme far more justice than a blog post does so please have a look here, find out more details on the theme listing, and please leave your feedback below.

WooThemes Got Drupal’d

After months of back-and-forth, we’re really happy to finally announce the addition of Drupal themes to the WooThemes family. Having launched our theme awesomeness on both ExpressionEngine & Tumblr since the beginning of the year, this Drupal release is just another step to take our designs & ideas to all of the popular CMS platforms.

You can consider this a soft launch of sorts for our Drupal themes; you can currently grab the very popular Coffee Break or the free version of Bueno for Drupal. We already have the next wave of Drupal themes in the works and now that the “foundations” have been laid, our development processes in this regard will be sped up significantly.

Drupal + WooThemes

We believe that we have unique ideas on CMS templating and having 3+ years of experience with WordPress (and now EE, Tumblr & Drupal), we bring that special angle to every CMS that we develop on. In our hearts, WordPress will always be our favourite CMS, but many of you out there disagree and it is with that in mind that we too want to cater for the Drupal fans.

Our Drupal themes are built with the same principles and ideas of our WordPress & other CMS themes; so you still have a WooFramework at the core, which allows for easy editing and superbly, flexible modifications. If you have ever tried out any of our other themes, you will most definitely love our Drupal stuff as well. You can get more information on the Drupal + WooThemes combo here.

To prove to you that we can back up these statements, we’d also like to invite you to try out the free version of Bueno, which will give you a great idea of the quality of these themes. You can also check out the Drupal demo’s if you wanted a more interactive play with the new themes.

Looking forward to hearing from you in the comments! And hopefully we’ll have a few new Drupal evangelists visiting us! :)

WooWeek #1: An Introduction

This week marks another first for WooThemes (this may not be the only first for us this week btw), with the introduction of a new concept called The WooWeek.

Earlier this month, we realized that due to a “routine” development process of design / developing new themes and fixing bugs in old themes, we don’t necessarily always have the opportunity to spend time working on the non-critical stuff. So with the WooWeek, we’re hoping to take a couple of days and spend it on some non-critical stuff that we hope to improve in & around WooThemes.

The WooWeek is obviously still a new concept around here, so we’re not even sure what we’ll be working on this week and how much we’ll be able to finish, but as always we at least plan to take you along with us on this ride. We started off working on a few things this morning – none of them related to releasing new themes – and hopefully we’ll be able to show you some progress come Friday.

Beyond us working on a few different things, everything else will still continue running as is; customer service & support, as well as urgent bug fixes will still get priority. We also have a new theme (which we completed last week) that will be going out on Wednesday; so WooWeek won’t be that much different for you. Hopefully though the stuff we work on this week, will be significant enough, so that you will see & experience the difference (and the value thereof) in future.
